Did You Know There Are
Two Types of Asthma?

Asthma is a severe disease that attacks the lungs and airways of its sufferer. It can be an everyday occurrence for some, or for others it may only rear its ugly head when the airways are inflamed.

What you might not know, though, is that there are two fundamental types of asthma. The first is allergic asthma. This is most commonly experienced by children and young adults. As the name implies, allergies serve as the primary cause of this form of asthma. Asthma attacks generally result from the sufferer coming in contact with something that causes an allergic reaction.

The other form of asthma is referred to as non-allergic asthma. This form is most commonly experienced by older adults. These asthma attacks are triggered by exercise, the air, over exertion, or lung problems, and they can be severe, even life threatening.

There are some people who only experience seasonal symptoms. These asthma symptoms may only be noticeable after exercise or long exposure to cold air or to animals or items that are allergies. Other people suffer from the more severe form of asthma and may have to deal with symptoms on a daily basis.

There isn't much a sufferer can do for their asthma. You can learn to control it to a certain extent. In fact, you'll likely discover that it's much easier to manage your asthma and minimize attacks once you have an understanding of what form of asthma you suffer from and the early signs to be watching for. Figure out those things that cause problems for you and learn how you to deal with them.

If you're suffering from asthma make sure you see their doctor regularly in order to determine which medications are right for your particular situation. Some sufferers use daily medications to keep their symptoms under control. Others can manage their asthma with the use of an inhaler only on rare occasions when it's needed. You and your doctor want to determine the best asthma control system for you.

Once you have your asthma under control, you'll notice that the symptoms quickly subside and are far less restrictive. This means no wheezing, coughing, or shortness of breath. You'll know you have things under control when you're getting a good nights sleep without interruptions.
